Superficial blood vessels
Are treatments carried out during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Laser therapy for superficial blood vessels is not carried out during pregnancy. This is because there is not enough scientific evidence on the treatments’ foetal safety. Treatments can be carried out while breastfeeding.

Health insurance may also cover treatment if the superficial blood vessels or redness also cause non-aesthetic harm, such as pain, throbbing or other bothersome sensations. If necessary, you can apply for a payment commitment from the insurance company for the treatment series.
Angiomas
Are treatments carried out during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
The removal of an angioma should be postponed until after giving birth. For example, a pyogenic granuloma that has developed during pregnancy usually cures by itself after pregnancy. Breastfeeding does not prevent laser treatment of an angioma.

Age-related changes and UV damage
Do you need to prepare for fractional CO2 laser therapy in some way?
There is no need to specifically prepare for the treatment. If the patient has previously had oral herpes or facial herpes, the physician will prescribe prophylactic medication for herpes in connection with laser treatment.

Why are fractional laser treatments only carried out at medical centres?
Fractional CO2 lasers belong to the most powerful class 4 laser devices, which according to the Act on Radiation Safety, can only be used by a healthcare professional in a medical centre and under the supervision of a physician. Sometimes treatment is marketed elsewhere than in healthcare units, but in this case the customer is not covered by patient liability insurance.
How much does fractional CO2 laser therapy or PDT treatment cost?
The price of treatment mainly depends on the surface area of the area to be treated. In PDT treatment, approximately 300€ is added to the price of treatment due to the costs of the photosensitiser. You can familiarise yourself with the treatment prices by viewing the pricelist.
Does health insurance cover the treatment of age-related changes or UV light damage?

Health insurance may cover hair removal by laser in case of an illness, such as hirsutism, medication-caused hypertrichosis, folliculitis, pseudofolliculitis, hidradenitis suppurativa and sinus pilonidalis. Health insurance may also cover hair removal by laser if excessive hair growth causes significant social harm or psychiatric susceptibility to illness. In this case, a psychiatrist’s statement must be attached to the payment commitment application.
Tattoo removal
Do you need to prepare for treatment in some way?
There is no need to prepare for the treatment in any way. The skin is irritated and scabbed after treatment. Therefore, you should avoid swimming in natural waters, the sun and dirty work for approximately a week following the treatment.
I am susceptible to keloid scars; can the treatment be carried out?

Is it dangerous if the treated area begins to bleed after treatment?
Tattoo removal may involve dot-like bleeding, particularly when the treatment has been carried out at high-intensity levels and in situations when combination therapy is carried out with two different lasers (FractTat or FracR2 treatment). The bleeding will end by itself but applying a gauze and pressure on the skin will usually control the bleeding effectively. Bleeding is not dangerous.
What does FracTat treatment refer to?
In FracTat treatment, the tattoo area is first treated with a fractional carbon dioxide laser, in which the laser make small dots on the surface of the skin, and the superficial layer of the skin peels away. After this, the tattoo is treated with a Q-switched laser. In FracTat treatment, the actual tattoo removal laser penetrates deeper, and the effectiveness of the treatment is approximately 20-30% better than if tattoo removal is carried out with only a Q-switched laser. The benefit of FracTat treatment is that no blistering forms on the skin after treatment; instead, the skin peels more evenly.
What does R2 or FracR2 treatment refer to?
In R2 treatment, the tattoo is treated twice with a Q-switched laser at an interval of 15-20 minutes. R2 treatment is more effective than a single treatment. R2 treatment is particularly carried out in case of tattoos that are more difficult to remove. In FracR2 treatment, the tattoo area is first treated with a fractional carbon dioxide laser, like in FracTat treatment, and then the area is treated twice with a Q-switched laser, like in R2 treatment. FracR2 is the most effective know tattoo removal method.
Where does the colour of the tattoo go after tattoo removal by laser?
In tattoo removal, the tattoo pigment bursts into small particles, which the body’s own scavenger cells, i.e. Macrophages, engulf. Macrophages often end up in nearby lymph nodes, but the accumulation of tattoo pigment in the lymph nodes is not dangerous and it will not interfere with any future medical examinations or treatments either. Some of the tattoo pigment may also burst through the skin in connection with the treatment.
Are tattoo removals by laser carried out during pregnancy and breastfeeding?
Tattoo removals are not carried out during pregnancy or breastfeeding. This is because there is not enough scientific evidence on the treatments’ foetal safety or the safety of breastfed children.
Why does another company remove tattoos by laser at a very affordable price?
There are very inexpensive Chinese tattoo removal lasers on the market. The pulse length of affordable lasers is longer than that of high-quality lasers, which increases the risk of scarring. In addition to this, the wave length of affordable lasers’ laser beam is not optimal for tattoo pigment, which causes damage to healthy tissue too and a high risk of scarring.
Why can tattoo removals by laser only be carried out by medical centres?
Tattoo removal lasers belong to the most powerful class 4 laser devices, which according to the Act on Radiation Safety, can only be used by a healthcare professional in a medical centre and under the supervision of a physician. Sometimes tattoos are removed elsewhere than at medical centres, against the provisions of the Act on Radiation Safety, but in this case, the customer is not covered by patient liability insurance.

IntelliStudio® mole imaging
Does health insurance cover IntelliStudio® mole monitoring?
This is determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the insurance company’s compensation practices. In practice, the mole imaging of high melanoma risk patients with a lot of moles is part of the monitoring protocol, and therefore imaging is usually within the scope of insurance cover. If necessary, you can apply for a payment commitment from the insurance company before starting mole monitoring.

Can treatment be paid by invoice or in instalments?
Treatments are paid for in connection with the appointment at the medical centre’s cashier. The most common debit cards are accepted at all medical centres; cash is accepted at only some.

Will a sick fund or health insurance cover my laser treatment?
No, if it is a case of aesthetic treatment. Possibly, if the treatment has another reason that is not for aesthetic purposes. Our physician will record the treatment as aesthetic treatment or medical treatment. Even if the treatment is logged as medical treatment, we do not guarantee that it will be covered by a sick fund or health insurance. The cover depends on your agreement. If you would like to find out about cover policies in advance, discuss the matter with a customer service operator of the sick fund or insurance company. For major treatment series, our physician can apply for a payment commitment from the insurance company in advance with an E statement.
Can I undergo several treatments during the same appointment? Is it more affordable?
Several different treatments can be carried out during the same appointment. In this case, it is possible to agree on a slightly more affordable package price for the treatments.
Can a specific package price be agreed upon for a series of treatments?
Treatments are priced per treatment session. If a long series of treatments is known, this can be considered in the price of an individual treatment session. Package prices are not used because the exact duration of a treatment series cannot always be predicted. In addition to this, the surface area of the area to be treated may change during the course of the treatment series.
I would like to remove two tattoos, will they both be charged?
Treatment is priced on the basis of the total surface area of the images. In other words, if it is a case of two 30 cm2 images, the removal is priced according to a surface area of 60 cm2.
